Other NewsNew Books for Matoaca Middle School! The foundation has stepped up its focus on student literacy this year, given all the reports about the decline in student reading skills caused by the pandemic. These pictures were taken in Mid-December, 2022 when members of the MMHMF Outreach Committee delivered 900 brand new books to Matoaca Middle School, a public school in Chesterfield County, VA. Every student in the school received a book to take home to read over the Holiday. The books were secured from the Richmond Children's Museum Book Bank at no charge. 100 books (the number they requested) were also delivered to Carver Middle School for students to take home for the Holidays. In addition, per their request, the foundation purchased four copies of twelve books for the four English classrooms at Matoaca Middle School last October. On January 9, 2023 we ordered the 82 books requested by Carver Middle School for their classroom libraries. The foundation purchased the books from Barnes and Noble. |
