Maya graduated with honors from Elizabeth Seton Catholic High School in Bladensburg, MD. She was in the film club, art club, and international club. Maya loves museums and travel, touring Europe most recently. She is an avid reader and enjoys philosophy, autobiographical and historical novels. She is studying architecture at Howard University and hopes to use sustainable housing to help people who are dealing with housing insecurity gain access to affordable housing in ways that do not compromise the environment. Maya is the daughter of Adrienne Stith Butler, the granddaughter of James and Alberta Stith, and the great granddaughter of Martha Mason Hill.
